Additional Rules
At the start of the tournament, players are divided into groups. The size of the groups will depend on the number of entrants.
In the group stages, each player will play every other player in a single match. For Example, if you are placed in a group of 8, you will have 7 games, and so will everyone else. Each group match will be a single best of three rounds game. Groups will be decided by the number of game wins. In the case of draws, the tie-breaker system will be used.
Once all the groups are finished, the top 2 or 4 players (depending on the size of the groups) will move to a double elimination tournament. Each double elimination match will be best of three games. Again, each game will be best of three rounds. The double elimination will decide the final winner.
When player’s names/numbers are called out, they must make their way over to the Judge on that machine who will tell them which side, 1p or 2p, they will be sitting on for that particular match up.
When players names/numbers are called out, they have 1 minute to get to their position and play their match. If they do not get there in time, then they forfeit the match. (Judges will not go looking for players)
Once in position, it is down to the players to make sure that their button configuration is correct. We have no problem allowing players to quickly access the game options so they can check their configuration. If a match has been officially started, then a player learns that his/her configuration is incorrect, then they must A) continue playing through the entire match with the wrong configuration, or B) Forfeit a round so they can fix this issue.
While playing in a best out of 3 match (first to win 2 games), the player that wins the last match is not allowed to change their character. The loser may change his character. A player can change his ultra choice regardless of winning or losing.
While playing in a match, if a player hits the pause button they automatically forfeit the round.
If there is a 2 way tie, the players will be made to play a tie-breaker.
If there is a 3 way tie and 1 player needs to advance, all 3 players’ names will be put into a container and one will be picked at random by the Judge of that group. The player that is chosen sits out while the other 2 participants play off. The loser of that match is eliminated and the winner plays the remaining player. The winner of that match wins the tie break and goes through to the next stage of the tournament.
If there is a 3 way tie and 2 players needs to advance, all 3 players’ names will be put into a container and one will be picked at random by the Judge of that group. The player that is chosen sits out while the other 2 participants play off. The winner of that match advances and the loser must play the remaining player. The winner of this match will advance to the next stage of the tournament and the loser will be eliminated from the tournament.
Every player must bring their own joypad/controller/joystick to the event. We will not be supplying controllers.
Players are responsible for all the property they bring to the event. If anything breaks or gets lost, it is not our responsibility.
If a player’s controller breaks down during an actual match, then they must tell the judge immediately. The judge will check the controller for faults. If a fault is detected by the judge, the match will be restarted to nearest round/game.
If any of the tournament equipment fails or is faulty (TVs, consoles etc) then you must alert a judge immediately.
By participating in this event, you agree to take part in promotional activities that may include having your photo taken or be interviewed on camera. Any tournament winner or runner-up that refuses to have their picture taken or video recorded will lose all rights to prizes.
If the eventual winner can not make it to America, because visa or passport issues, the 2nd place winner will be awarded the prize.
If a player decides to pull out of the tournament for any reason, they will not be replaced by somebody else.
Anybody caught manipulating the outcome of any match will be ejected from the event and banned from all future tournaments.
Participants should also be aware that any activities falling under this definition will result in a direct forfeit of eligibility for any awards and/or prizes due. This rule exists in order to protect the integrity and fairness of the event. Your co-operation in this matter is greatly appreciated. If you are in any doubt regarding this rule, please speak directly with the management before entering the tournament, to ensure you fully understand what is required of you.
These rules exist in order to protect the integrity and fairness of the tournament.
Please note that in exceptional circumstances, the tournament rules may be subject to change at short notice. In the event of such a change, the tournament director and/or management will make every effort to make participants aware of this fact as soon as possible. We also reserve the right to eject any participant who, in our opinion, is detrimental to, and/or is having a negative impact on the event. The management’s decision on all matters is absolute and binding.

I’ll try go I like the button binding ruling, Giefs cant be cheap now! I’ll be using My El Fuerte!
Button binding is allowed in the official Evo rules, so why not at a qualifier? http://evo2k.com/?page_id=378
Pretty much excluding anyone who plays on a regular controller. Also for SSFIV at Evo, it’ll be played on PS3, so why have the qualifier on 360?

Don’t think im gonna make this.
Just curious tho, why only 6 button layout allowed?
The prize is a stick with 8 buttons, and Evo 2010 says nothing about bindings so I assume they are ok? Im new to this as you all know so maybe im talking rubbish.

Signing up on the day is grand. There will probably be a group of people heading up from town so check the forums for this being organised and then you can go up with them if your worried about getting lost.

I agree with ChopperByrne here, it really should be played on a PS3 system, thats the one they use at EVO after all.
